Instructional Assistants receive weekly training from specialists in the area of speech-language pathology, physical therapy, vision therapy, and special education. There are frequent opportunities for direct observation hours with our specialists. We offer support to individuals applying for graduate school, by providing personal statement advice, mentorship, mock interviews, and recommendation letters upon request. Avalon is a fun and collaborative work environment that will provide you with experiences that make you a competitive applicant for top graduate programs. We look forward to you joining our team.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Avalon Academy provides a rich learning experience for individuals who plan to work in a rehabilitative field (e.g Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, and Nursing). Interns are given the opportunity to work closely with our specialists through observation and hands on experience. For more information, have your program director contact our Executive Director, Sara Hawkinson, at sara@theavalonacademy.org .

The Avalon Academy offers volunteer and reverse mainstreaming opportunities. We currently have partnerships with a variety of local schools and organizations who regularly volunteer their time and talents. Prior to volunteering, we require potential volunteers to attend an orientation. Please contact us for more information. We look forward to having you!
